What this MCCB carries — and what that means for your panel
The SENTRON 3VA2010-5HN32-0KF0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 100 A continuous, with a flat thermal derating curve from 40 °C through 70 °C — no need to down-rate for elevated panel ambient up to that ceiling. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA at 240 V covers high-fault utility feeds and transformer secondaries where the available fault current is stiff. It ships with a shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping and a 1 NO + 1 NC auxiliary switch plus a separate trip alarm switch — so the control system gets both position feedback and a dedicated fault signal without adding a module. Design is line protection, meaning it is set up for feeder and main breaker duty rather than motor branch-circuit protection — pair it with a contactor or starter downstream for motor loads.
Panel fit and mounting
Footprint is 86 mm deep × 105 mm wide × 181 mm tall — standard for a 100 A frame in the 3VA platform. Mounts on a DIN rail or direct-panel with the supplied hardware. Max power loss is 13.5 W at rated load, so ventilation in a sealed enclosure is manageable; no forced-air required for a single unit at 100 A. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C ambient; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage minimum matters if the panel sits in an unheated warehouse before commissioning.
