What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA2010-5HN36-0AF0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection. Its 100 A continuous current (Iu) holds at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C without derating — above that, the thermal curve steps down to 85 A at 70 °C. The ETU350 electronic trip unit gives adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, so you can shape the trip characteristic to the load without swapping the breaker. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415/440 V, then drops to 79 kA at 500 V and 3.4 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure covers high-fault utility feeds; the 3.4 kA at 690 V is still adequate for most 690 V distribution, but verify your available fault current at that voltage before committing the BOM line. Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — the 86 mm depth is the key panel-fit dimension when you're checking gland-plate clearance or a shallow enclosure. IP40 on the front means it's protected against solid objects over 1 mm but not against water ingress; mount it inside a rated enclosure for wet environments.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the molded case. The 105 mm width occupies three pole spaces on a DIN rail — plan for adjacent breaker spacing and busbar takeoff. Power loss is 13.5 W maximum at rated current; factor that into enclosure thermal calculations, especially in a sealed cabinet. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage minimum matters if the breaker sits in an unheated warehouse before installation — it's rated for cold storage, so no special pre-warmup needed before energizing.
