What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-5HN36-0HL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its headline breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 75.6 kA at 500 V — numbers that tell you it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. The 100 A rating holds flat across the full 40–70 °C ambient range, so no derating headache in a warm enclosure.
Fit and panel integration
The MCCB measures 105 mm wide by 181 mm high by 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame footprint that drops into a DIN-rail or panel-mount cutout. The 86 mm depth (3.39 in) is the dimension that matters for gland-plate clearance and enclosure depth selection; the 105 mm width (4.13 in) governs how many units fit across a sub-panel. Shunt trip (STL) is built in as the auxiliary release, and the auxiliary switch block carries 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm and 1 electrical alarm switch — enough for remote status and trip indication back to a PLC or annunciator.
