What this 3VA2 MCCB brings to a panel
The Siemens 3VA2010-5JQ32-0DH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection, rated 100 A continuous at 40 °C and packing 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. The ETU560 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection, plus a communication function for remote monitoring over the panel bus. An undervoltage release (UVR) is built in, and the auxiliary contact set (2 aux + 1 trip alarm) feeds status back to the PLC without extra wiring.
Breaking capacity and selectivity headroom
At 240 V the breaker clears 187 kA; at 415 V and 440 V it still holds 121 kA, and at 500 V it manages 79 kA. Only at 690 V does the rating drop to 3.4 kA — that's the limit for 690 V line-side faults. For most 400 V-class distribution panels, the 121 kA figure gives generous selectivity headroom downstream, meaning you can coordinate with smaller branch breakers without worrying about nuisance tripping on a high-impedance fault.
Thermal derating and operating range
The breaker holds 100 A up to 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 96.25 A, at 60 °C to 92.5 A, and at 70 °C to 85 A. If your panel runs hot — say, a packed enclosure near a furnace line — size the load accordingly. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The 181 mm height, 105 mm width, and 86 mm depth fit standard SENTRON mounting footprints; no panel rework needed if you're swapping a 3VA1 or 3VA2 frame.
