SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB — 100 A, line protection with shunt trip
The Siemens 3VA2010-5JQ32-0JA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 100 A at 40 °C, and that rating holds flat through 70 °C — no derating needed across the full operating temperature range per the datasheet. The 3-pole unit is fitted with a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release for remote tripping, and includes communication functionality for integration into monitored systems.
Interrupting capacity and selectivity
Breaking capacity is specified per voltage level: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V. These figures govern the available fault current the breaker can safely interrupt at the point of installation. For a 100 A frame, the 187 kA at 240 V provides substantial headroom for high-fault locations near a transformer secondary. The 3 kA at 690 V is the limiting case — confirm the system voltage matches the interrupting rating required.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or direct-panel mounting. The 86 mm depth leaves clearance for rear-connection busbars and wiring troughs in a 200 mm deep enclosure. Power loss is 13.5 W maximum; account for this in thermal calculations when grouping multiple breakers in a sealed panel.
