What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-5KQ36-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchgear. Its interrupting capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V — meaning it can safely clear high fault currents on the low-voltage side of a transformer or in a main feeder, but the 690 V rating is low enough that you'd check coordination upstream for that voltage class. The breaker carries a rated insulation voltage of 800 V and maintains its full 100 A rating across the entire ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed in a warm enclosure.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures without surprises. The breaker includes a communication function and other measurement functions, plus summation-current ground-fault monitoring on the L-conductor — useful for feeding status into a BMS or PLC without an add-on module. Maximum power loss is 13.5 W, which is modest for a 100 A frame — keeps internal cabinet temperature rise manageable.
