What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-6HM42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 242 kA breaking capacity at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V give it the headroom to clear high-fault currents upstream of a motor control center or switchboard — selectivity coordination stays intact when a downstream device trips first. The ground-fault monitoring version uses summation current formation on L+N conductors, so it catches leakage without a separate core-balance transformer — saves panel space and wiring time.
Thermal performance and derating
The breaker holds its full 100 A rating from 40 °C through 70 °C ambient — no derating curve to chase across the operating range, which simplifies panel thermal calculations in a sealed enclosure. Maximum power loss is 13.5 W for the 100 A 4-pole frame.
Dimensions and panel fit
At 86 mm deep × 140 mm wide × 181 mm high, this MCCB fits standard DIN-rail or direct-mount backpanels — the 140 mm width leaves room for adjacent breakers in a multi-pole lineup.
