What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-6HN32-0BA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a rated insulation voltage of 800 V. Its headline breaking capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V — figures that put it in the high-interrupting class for industrial feeder and distribution panels where fault current runs high. The overcurrent release is an ETU350 electronic trip unit, which gives adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves. An undervoltage release (UVR) is integrated as standard, so the breaker can be tripped remotely on loss of control voltage — a common requirement for emergency-stop and safety circuits.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
At 415 V the 187 kA interrupting rating is high enough to coordinate with most upstream transformers and downstream distribution breakers without cascading. At 690 V the rating drops to 4 kA — still adequate for 690 V motor circuits, but selectivity planning should account for the reduced margin. The 100 A frame is fully rated at ambient up to 50 °C; above that, derate linearly to 85 A at 70 °C.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. The 3-pole frame mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. The 86 mm depth is shallow enough for 200 mm deep enclosures, leaving room for wiring gutters. The ETU350 trip unit is field-adjustable via rotary dials on the front face — no software or handheld programmer needed for basic settings.
