What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-6HN32-0HH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and still holds 187 kA at 415 V — that's serious fault-clearing headroom for high-available-fault-current installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers. At 690 V it drops to 3 kA, so this is a low-voltage distribution breaker, not a drive-output device. The 100 A rating holds flat from 40 °C all the way to 70 °C ambient — no derating curve to chase in a hot panel. That's unusual for a breaker this size; most start pulling back above 50 °C. The 181 mm height, 105 mm width, and 86 mm depth fit standard Siemens SENTRON mounting footprints, so it swaps into existing 3VA-series panels without re-drilling the backplate.
Auxiliaries and releases — what's inside the can
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ configuration), and a shunt trip release (STL). That means you get remote status indication (open/closed/tripped) and a remote-trip input without adding external modules. The shunt trip lets a safety PLC or E-stop circuit kill the breaker electrically — no manual reach-in required. No undervoltage release on this variant, so if you need UVR for undervoltage protection on a motor feeder, this isn't the order code. Power loss is 13.5 W maximum — negligible for panel thermal budgeting, but worth noting if you're packing a dozen of these in a sealed enclosure. The trip indicator (mechanical flag) gives a quick visual on which breaker opened without needing to reset the handle to find out.
Environmental and compliance
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. That covers most indoor industrial environments and cold warehouses. The 3VA series carries UL, CSA, and IEC certifications — standard for North American and European panel builds. RoHS and REACH compliance documentation is available from Siemens on request.
