What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-6HN32-0JC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a 242 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC, dropping to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V — so the SCCR headroom is substantial at typical 480 V industrial feeds, but you need to check coordination at the 690 V end if that's your line voltage. The breaker includes a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator.
Sizing and thermal performance
The 100 A rating holds flat from 40 °C all the way to 70 °C ambient — no derating curve to chase across the panel temperature rise. That's unusual for an MCCB; most start tapering above 40 °C. Maximum power loss is 13.5 W, which is modest for a 100 A frame and keeps the enclosure heat rise manageable.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint for a 100 A frame. The 3-pole block occupies three module spaces on a DIN rail or panel-mount base. The shunt trip and auxiliary switches are factory-integrated, so no field-add kit to lose or miswire.
