What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2010-8JP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for 100 A continuous duty in a 3-pole, line-protection configuration. It carries the ETU550 electronic trip unit, which gives you adjustable long-time and short-time delay settings (tr from 0.5 to 25 s, tsd up to 0.5 s) — useful for coordinating with downstream breakers on a selective scheme. The 440 kA interrupting rating at 240 V means it can sit upstream of a high-fault panel without needing a current-limiting fuse ahead of it; at 415/440 V it still holds 330 kA, and at 690 V it's rated 53 kA. That's a lot of headroom for a 100 A frame.
Panel fit and integration
The 3VA2010-8JP32-0AA0 measures 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep, and 181 mm tall. It's a standard MCCB footprint for a 100 A frame — mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the screw terminals. The IP40 protection on the front means it's fine inside a closed panel; no special sealing needed for dust or splash. Power loss is 7.7 W maximum, so thermal rise inside a densely packed enclosure stays manageable.
Trip unit and adjustability
The ETU550 is an electronic trip unit with communication capability — it can talk to a higher-level system for monitoring and remote reset. It's not a ground-fault version (no GF module built in), so if you need GF protection you'd add an external module or choose a different variant. The rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the operating temperature range spans -40 °C to 70 °C, with storage down to -40 °C and up to 80 °C. That covers most industrial environments short of a foundry.
