The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-8KP36-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to the top of the enclosure's thermal curve. It carries an ETU850 electronic trip unit, so you get adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, plus a communication function for remote monitoring or selective coordination studies. The breaking capacity hits 440 kA at 240 V and still holds 330 kA at 415 V or 440 V, which puts it squarely in high-fault-duty main or feeder positions.
Breaking capacity and selectivity planning
At 690 V the breaker still interrupts 52.5 kA, which covers most 690 V industrial bus applications. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) means it's suitable for 690 V line-to-line systems with margin. For selective coordination studies, the ETU850 provides the adjustable I²t and short-time delay settings needed to cascade with downstream Sentron 3VA or 3VL breakers. The IP40 front protection is typical for panel-mount — no special gasketing needed for dry indoor switchgear.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide × 181 mm tall × 86 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for the 3VA platform. No undervoltage release or voltage trip module fitted from factory, but the optional motor drive extension is listed as available. The breaker ships without a ground-fault monitoring module, so if you need GF protection, that's an add-on accessory. Communication function is onboard, so it can talk to a PLC or BMS directly via the 3VA communication module interface.
