MCCB for 25 A feeder protection with ETU550 smarts
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2025-5JP32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 25 A continuous current, built around the ETU550 electronic trip unit. The 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V mean this breaker can sit at the main or a high-fault subfeed without worrying about series rating gaps. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it handles 480Y/277 V and 600 V delta systems comfortably.
The interrupting ratings span the voltage range a panel builder actually sees: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at both 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V. For a 25 A feeder on a 480 V system, the 121 kA at 440 V is the closest published point — that's well above typical available fault current in most commercial and light industrial panels. If your transformer is oversized or you're sitting close to a 2 MVA unit, the 75.6 kA at 500 V still covers the worst case. No need for a current-limiting fuse ahead of this breaker unless the available fault exceeds those numbers.
Panel fit — 86 mm depth, 105 mm wide
The breaker body measures 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, and 181 mm tall. That 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole MCCB in this class — it occupies three 35 mm DIN spaces if mounted on a DIN rail, or bolts directly to a mounting plate. Power loss is just 0.84 W, so no special ventilation is needed in a standard enclosure.
Communication function onboard
This variant includes a communication function, which means it can integrate with a BMS or PLC for remote monitoring and trip-event logging. The ETU550 trip unit supports the communication interface — no separate module required for basic data. If you need remote open/close control, verify the specific communication protocol (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Modbus) against your system; the order code suffix determines which protocol is fitted.
