The Siemens 3VA2040-5HN46-0AA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker rated 40 A continuous on a 4-pole frame, fitted with an ETU350 electronic trip unit. Line protection design means it's configured for feeder duty, not motor branch circuit protection.
This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V. For a 480 V panel (common in North America), the 75.6 kA at 500 V gives headroom above typical 65 kA SCCR requirements. The 3 kA at 690 V is enough for most 690 V motor circuits but won't cover high-fault locations at that voltage.
That's unusual for a 40 A frame; most breakers start derating above 40 °C. The ETU350 electronic trip compensates digitally, so you don't lose capacity in a hot panel. Power dissipation is 2.2 W maximum — negligible for panel heat budgeting.
Four-pole frame takes up 140 mm of DIN-rail width — standard for a 4-pole MCCB in this class.
