MCCB with flat thermal derating and wide trip range
The Siemens 3VA2040-8JP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker sized for 40 A continuous current across the full ambient range — it holds 40 A from 40 °C all the way up to 70 °C, so no derating curve to chase in a warm panel. The ETU550 electronic trip unit lets you set the overload threshold anywhere from 60 A to 480 A, which means one SKU covers multiple load sizes on the BOM. Breaking capacity runs 440 kA at 240 V, 330 kA at 415/440 V, 220 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V — high enough for most distribution and motor branch circuits without an upstream current-limiting fuse.
Panel fit and integration
Three-pole footprint: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. Mounts on a DIN rail or direct-panel with the standard SENTRON lug kit. IP40 on the front — fine for enclosed distribution boards; not rated for washdown. The ETU550 supports communication functions, so you can pull trip events and load data into a BMS or PLC without adding a separate meter.
