Integrator's note — 3VA2063-5HL32-0KH0
The Siemens 3VA2063-5HL32-0KH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker, 3-pole, rated 63 A continuous current at 40 °C. Its headline breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V — that is the fault-clearing ceiling for high-available-fault-current panels, typical at a utility transformer secondary or a large motor control center. The ETU320 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, with a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and an integrated auxiliary trip module (3VA9688-0BL33).
Breaking capacity and selectivity
At 240 V the 187 kA rating means this MCCB can safely interrupt faults up to that level without cascading upstream — critical for selective coordination in a distribution board. At 690 V the rating drops to 3.4 kA, so for 690 V applications the breaker is limited to lower-fault branches. The 63 A continuous rating holds flat through 50 °C; above that it derates to 53.55 A at 70 °C, so panel ambient temperature must be factored into the load schedule.
Panel integration and wiring
The 3VA2063-5HL32-0KH0 mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter. Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — fits a standard MCCB slot in a SENTRON distribution board or a third-party enclosure with the appropriate cutout. The shunt trip (STL) requires a separate control voltage; no undervoltage release is fitted. Auxiliary contacts include 2 form-C aux switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ version).
