What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2063-5HL32-0KL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current on a 3-pole line-protection design. It breaks up to 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault-current panels without cascading upstream — typical for main or feeder duty in industrial switchboards.
Breaking capacity and what it means for your panel
At 240 V the interrupting rating is 187 kA; at 415 V it is 121 kA, and at 500 V it drops to 75.6 kA. At 690 V the rating is 3 kA — this breaker is sized for low-voltage distribution up to 500 V, not 690 V main duty. The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 70 °C, so no derating needed in a warm enclosure.
Built-in auxiliaries and release options
This variant ships with two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, one electrical alarm switch, and a shunt trip (STL) release. The shunt trip lets you remotely trip the breaker from a PLC or emergency-stop circuit without an undervoltage release. No ground-fault monitoring module is included.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for a 63 A frame. Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate. The trip indicator and voltage trigger are visible through the front cover, handy for quick fault isolation during commissioning.
