MCCB for line protection — 63 A, 187 kA interrupting capacity
The Siemens 3VA2063-5HL36-0JL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Rated for 63 A continuous current across the full -25 °C to 70 °C operating range, it holds that rating without derating up to 70 °C — a useful margin for enclosed panels where ambient heat builds. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA at 240 V tells you this breaker is built for high-fault locations — transformer secondaries or large motor control centers where available fault current is severe. At 415 V the 121 kA still covers most industrial service entrances. The 3-pole unit carries a shunt trip release (STL) and a configurable auxiliary switch block: two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ). The basic switch assembly is order code 3VA20635HL360AA0. Power loss is 5.4 W maximum — negligible for panel thermal budgeting.
Panel fit — dimensions and mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this class — verify the existing panel cutout or bus-bar spacing against those numbers before committing the BOM line. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The 63 A continuous rating is flat across the entire operating band — no derating curve to calculate for warm enclosures.
