What the 55 kA Icu means for your panel
The 3VA2063-5HM42-0AH0 is a 4-pole IEC frame 100 MCCB rated for a 63 A continuous current (In) with an ultimate breaking capacity (Icu) of 55 kA at 415 V AC. That 55 kA figure is the maximum fault current it can safely interrupt once without needing replacement — critical for main or feeder breakers in high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centres. The ETU330 trip unit provides LSI (long-time, short-time, instantaneous) plus ground-fault (LIG) protection, with adjustable Ir from 25 A to 63 A and Ii from 1.5 to 12 times In. The ground-fault pickup (Ig) is adjustable between 0.25 and 1 times In, with a time delay of 0.1 or 0.3 seconds, making it suitable for selective coordination downstream.
Integration and wiring notes
The breaker ships with a nut keeper kit for secure panel mounting. Two auxiliary switches (HQ) and one trip alarm switch (HQ) are factory-fitted, providing status feedback for PLC or SCADA inputs without additional wiring. The neutral conductor protection is adjustable (OFF or 100% of phase rating) via the trip unit settings, which is useful for 4-wire systems where neutral protection is required by local code. Spring-cage or screw terminals accept standard copper conductors up to the frame rating — verify lug range against your cable size during panel build.
