63 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V — line protection for high-fault panels
The Siemens 3VA2063-5HN32-0KL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to 70 °C. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, and 75.6 kA at 500 V, dropping to 3 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V means it handles the highest available fault currents typical at the service entrance or main distribution panel without cascading failure upstream. The 3-pole design, rated for line protection, includes a shunt trip release (STL) and a full auxiliary switch complement: two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch and one electrical alarm switch. This MCCB mounts in a standard panel footprint — 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall — and dissipates 5.4 W maximum at rated load. The operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. A voltage-trigger function and trip indicator are built in; undervoltage release and ground-fault monitoring are not fitted on this variant.
Integration — panel fit and auxiliary wiring
At 86 mm deep and 105 mm wide, this MCCB fits a standard 3-pole breaker slot in most distribution panels. The shunt trip release (STL) allows remote tripping from an E-stop or safety PLC — useful for emergency disconnect circuits. The auxiliary switch block (two auxiliary + one trip alarm + one electrical alarm) provides status feedback for PLC inputs or annunciator panels. Wire the shunt trip coil separately; it draws its own control power and is not powered from the breaker's load side.
