SENTRON 3VA2063-5HN36-0HL0 — 63 A MCCB with ETU350, 3-pole, line protection
The Siemens 3VA2063-5HN36-0HL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker from the SENTRON 3VA2 series, rated for a continuous current Iu of 63 A and fitted with an ETU350 electronic trip unit. The interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, making it suitable for high-fault-current distribution panels and feeder protection in industrial switchgear. The ETU350 provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves, plus a built-in voltage trigger for shunt-trip coordination. The auxiliary contact configuration includes two auxiliary switches, one trip alarm switch, and one electrical alarm switch (HQ version), giving the panel builder a complete status feedback set without adding external relay modules.
Deployment and integration
This MCCB mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the screw terminals. The 105 mm width and 86 mm depth fit standard 3-pole MCCB cutouts in a distribution board; the 181 mm height leaves clearance for the rotary handle and terminal covers. The shunt trip (STL) integrated release allows remote tripping from an emergency-stop circuit or a PLC digital output — no separate undervoltage release is fitted, so the breaker will not drop out on a control-voltage dip unless the shunt is intentionally energized. The ETU350 is self-powered from the line current; no external control power is needed for the trip unit to operate.
Thermal derating and endurance
The breaker carries a full 63 A continuously from 40 °C to 50 °C ambient. Above 50 °C the current must be derated: 60.6375 A at 55 °C, 58.275 A at 60 °C, 55.9125 A at 65 °C, and 53.55 A at 70 °C. The mechanical endurance is rated at 20,000 operations, which covers the typical service life of a feeder breaker in a panel that sees infrequent switching. Maximum power loss at rated current is 5.4 W, a figure to include in the panel thermal budget.
