63 A MCCB with ETU550 — selectivity and SCCR headroom
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2063-5JP46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current, built around the ETU550 electronic trip unit. It is designed for line protection in distribution panels where selectivity and high fault-current interruption are required. The 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V gives substantial headroom for high-capacity transformer-fed busways; at 415 V and 440 V it still holds 121 kA, dropping to 75.6 kA at 500 V and 3 kA at 690 V. That SCCR curve lets the breaker coordinate with downstream devices across a range of voltage classes without cascading upstream.
Panel integration and mounting
The breaker measures 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard footprint for this frame class. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the base. The front face carries an IP40 protection rating, meaning tools and fingers are kept out but the unit is not sealed against moisture; install in a clean, dry enclosure or behind a gland plate.
Trip unit and communication
The ETU550 is an electronic trip unit offering adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves. It supports communication functions, so the breaker can report status and trip events to a higher-level control system — useful for remote monitoring in a managed power distribution scheme. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, matching the voltage class of typical industrial switchgear.
