SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB — line protection with communication
The Siemens 3VA2063-5JQ32-0JC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 63 A continuous, 3-pole, designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415 V AC — figures that place it in the high-interrupting range for industrial feeder circuits. The 63 A rating holds flat across the full ambient temperature span from 40 °C to 70 °C, so no derating curve is needed for warm enclosures. A communication function is built in, and the breaker ships with two HQ auxiliary switches plus a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release. The shunt trip allows remote tripping from a safety circuit or emergency-stop chain — useful in automated lines where a downstream fault must isolate power without manual intervention.
Sizing and interrupting performance
Full-scale value is 63 A; adjustable trip range 95 A minimum to 756 A maximum. Initial value is 16 A. At 690 V interrupting capacity is 3 kA. Maximum power loss is 5.4 W. Operating temperature -25 °C to 70 °C, storage -40 °C to 80 °C.
