What this MCCB delivers — and the rating that decides fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2063-6HL32-0AG0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for continuous current Iu of 63 A. What sets it apart is the interrupting capacity: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415/440 V, and still 121 kA at 500 V. That means it handles high-fault scenarios where a standard MCCB would fail — think transformer secondaries, large-bus feeds, or utility tie points where available fault current exceeds 100 kA. The ETU320 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves, not a fixed thermal-magnetic characteristic.
Current derating — the real-world continuous rating
Full 63 A is available up to 50 °C ambient. Above that the rating tapers: 60.6 A at 55 °C, 58.3 A at 60 °C, 55.9 A at 65 °C, 53.6 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot — enclosed switchgear, high-density layouts — the 55 °C row is likely your design point. The 5.4 W maximum power loss is low enough that you don't need forced cooling for this one breaker in a standard enclosure.
Panel fit — dimensions and auxiliaries
Footprint: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep. That's a standard 3-pole MCCB slot in most SENTRON distribution boards and panelboards. The front face carries IP40 protection — fine for a closed cabinet, not for washdown. It ships with one auxiliary switch plus one trip alarm switch (HP type), so you can signal the breaker state back to a PLC or annunciator without adding a separate module.
