63 A MCCB with ETU320 — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2063-6HL32-0JL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current (Iu) at 40 °C, with no derating needed up to 50 °C — it holds 63 A flat across that band. At 55 °C it derates to 60.6 A, and at 70 °C to 53.6 A, so the thermal margin matters if your enclosure runs hot. The 242 kA breaking capacity at 240 V is the headline number for high-fault panels; at 415 V it still interrupts 187 kA, and at 690 V it drops to 4 kA — that last figure governs the SCCR for 690 V bus work. The ETU320 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves, not just fixed thermal-magnetic. A shunt trip (STL) is integrated for remote opening via a control signal. The auxiliary contact block carries two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm and one electrical alarm switch (HQ configuration), which gives you status feedback for the PLC or annunciator without a separate module.
Panel fit and mounting
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that fits the same DIN-rail or screw-mount footprint as other 3VA2063 variants. The 86 mm depth is the dimension to check against gland-plate clearance and door swing if the breaker is mounted near the enclosure front. Three poles, line protection version, no undervoltage release, no communication module, no ground-fault monitoring — this is a straight feeder or main breaker with local shunt-trip control only.
