What this MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2063-6HM32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels, switchboards, and motor control centers. It carries 63 A continuous current across three poles and holds a full thermal rating from 40 °C up to 70 °C ambient — no derating needed in a warm enclosure. Breaking capacity is 242 kA at 240 VAC, 187 kA at 415/440 VAC, 121 kA at 500 VAC, and 3 kA at 690 VAC. That 242 kA figure at 240 V is the headline number for high-fault panels in North American 240/120 V distribution; the 187 kA at 415 V covers European 400 V grids. For 690 V applications the 3 kA rating restricts it to low-fault branches. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so the internal clearances and creepage support use in 690 V systems despite the lower breaking capacity at that voltage. Maximum power loss is 5.4 W per pole — negligible for panel thermal budgeting.
Ground-fault and protection configuration
This variant includes ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation on the L-conductor — it sums the phase currents and trips on residual imbalance. That makes it suitable for grounded-wye systems where you need GF protection integrated into the MCCB rather than a separate relay. No undervoltage release, no voltage trip, no communication function — it is a standalone thermal-magnetic breaker with GF module. The trip indicator is not fitted, so a remote status contact is absent. If your BOM requires a visual trip flag or auxiliary contact for the PLC, you will need the accessory kit separately.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. Storage temperature range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C. The storage low end matters for unheated warehouses in cold climates — the breaker can sit at -40 °C without damage as long as it is not energized.
