What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2063-6KQ32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 63 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchboards. Its 242 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC means it can safely clear a fault up to that level without exploding or welding contacts — critical for high-fault locations like utility tie-ins or large transformer secondaries where available fault current is high. At 415 V and 440 V it still holds 187 kA, and at 500 V it manages 121 kA, so it covers most industrial voltage levels without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream. At 690 V the breaking capacity drops to 3 kA — that's the voltage limit for this frame; if your circuit runs 690 V with significant fault potential, you need a different breaker.
Thermal performance and derating
The 63 A rating holds flat from 40 °C all the way to 70 °C ambient — no derating needed across that range, which is unusual and simplifies panel design in hot environments like motor control centers or outdoor enclosures. Maximum power loss is 5.4 W, so heat dissipation inside the enclosure is manageable even in a dense panel.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, and 86 mm deep — fits standard MCCB mounting footprints in most distribution boards and panelboards.
Special features
Includes communication function for integration into automation networks, and ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation on the L-conductor — useful for detecting leakage without a separate GFCI module. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V.
