SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB — line-protection duty with ground-fault monitoring
The Siemens 3VA2063-7KQ42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries 63 A continuously across a -25 °C to 70 °C operating range — no derating needed up to 70 °C ambient — and breaks faults up to 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415/440 V, and 187 kA at 500 V. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V. The 4-pole design with ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation (L+N conductor) detects residual currents in single-phase or three-phase-plus-neutral circuits.
Interrupting capacity — what the voltage-specific ratings mean for panel coordination
Interrupting capacity drops sharply above 500 V: 187 kA at 500 V falls to 3 kA at 690 V. That 3 kA figure at 690 V means this breaker is not suitable for 690 V line protection unless the available fault current is very low — verify the prospective short-circuit current at the installation point. At standard 480/600 V levels, the 187 kA rating provides ample margin for most industrial service-entrance or feeder applications.
Panel fit — dimensions and mounting
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 140 mm wide, 86 mm deep. Depth of 86 mm clears most enclosures with room for wiring gutters.
