What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA2110-5HN36-0HC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current (Iu) with an ETU350 electronic trip unit. It's configured for line protection — meaning it guards feeders and downstream distribution against overloads and short circuits, not motor or generator protection. The interrupting ratings climb with system voltage: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 4.25 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V is unusually high for a 100 A frame — it handles high-fault utility feeds without needing a current-limiting upstream device. Thermal derating is published per degree: full 100 A up to 50 °C, then 96.25 A at 55 °C, 92.5 A at 60 °C, 88.75 A at 65 °C, and 85 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the load side accordingly.
Trip unit and auxiliary hardware
The ETU350 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves — typical for selective coordination in distribution panels. It ships with a shunt trip (STL) release for remote emergency-off or undervoltage tripping, plus two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel. The integrated auxiliary trip module carries order code 3VA9688-0BL30; the basic switch assembly is 3VA2110-5HN36-0AA0. Both are field-replaceable without pulling the breaker from the panel.
Panel fit and environment
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for DIN-rail or panel-mount installation. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 10 W, so ventilation in a sealed enclosure is advisable if multiple breakers are ganged.
