What this MCCB is and what it carries
The Siemens 3VA2110-5JP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current across its full ambient temperature range — from 40 °C through 70 °C, the 100 A rating holds without derating. That is unusual for an MCCB in this class and simplifies panel sizing when the breaker sits near other heat sources. It is a 3-pole unit fitted with the ETU550 electronic trip unit. The ETU550 provides adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves — a step up from thermal-magnetic trip units for selectivity coordination in distribution panels. Breaking capacity is rated at 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. The 690 V figure is low enough that this breaker is not a primary choice for 690 V line-side faults; it is sized for 400 V-class distribution where the interrupting duty is well within its margin.
Mounting and panel fit
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. The 105 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint on a DIN rail or bolted bus; verify the existing panel's bus-bar spacing and gland-plate clearance against the 86 mm depth before committing the BOM line. Front-face protection is IP40, meaning tools and fingers are kept out but the breaker is not sealed against water ingress — standard for indoor switchgear enclosures.
Communication and monitoring capability
This breaker includes a communication function — the ETU550 trip unit supports data exchange over the SENTRON communication bus (COM module required, sold separately). That allows remote reading of load current, trip event logging, and parameter adjustment from a panel-side HMI or a higher-level energy management system. Power loss is rated at 10 W maximum at rated current — negligible for panel thermal budgeting but worth noting if the enclosure is densely packed and ventilation is marginal.
