What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5JP32-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection. It carries a rated continuous current Iu of 100 A and a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. The ETU550 electronic trip unit handles the overcurrent release — that's the brain that decides when to clear a fault. This is a communicating breaker; it has a communication function on board, so it can talk to a higher-level control system for monitoring and coordination.
What the ratings mean for fit
The interrupting ratings tell you what faults this breaker can safely clear at different voltages: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 4.25 kA at 690 V. At 690 V the number drops sharply — that's the physics of arc extinction in air. If your system fault current at 690 V exceeds 4.25 kA, this breaker isn't your choice; you'd need a higher-rated frame. The continuous current holds at 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient, then derates to 96.25 A at 55 °C, 92.5 A at 60 °C, 88.75 A at 65 °C, and 85 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — use the 70 °C figure for your load calculation.
Where it fits in a panel
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep. That width — 105 mm — is the standard 4-module footprint for a 3-pole SENTRON 3VA frame; it clips onto a DIN rail or mounts with screws to a backplate. The IP40 front protection means it's fine inside a closed panel; keep it out of direct washdown zones. The auxiliary contact version ships with 2 auxiliary switches HP built in, so you get remote status without adding a separate module. No undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, no ground fault monitoring on this variant — if you need those, you're looking at a different order code in the 3VA family.
Compliance and documentation
The SENTRON 3VA series carries the usual suite of compliance docs: RoHS, REACH, and the CE marking for the European market. UL and IEC certifications are standard for this product class. The reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q, which classifies it as a switching device in the function-oriented labelling scheme. Documentation — datasheet, manual, CAD files — is available from Siemens on request.
