What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2110-5JP32-0AJ0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchboards. It carries a 100 A continuous current rating across the full ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed as the panel warms up near the top of the enclosure. Three poles handle three-phase circuits. The 800 V rated insulation voltage provides headroom for system voltages up to that limit.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean for your fault duty
This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. The steep drop at 690 V tells you this breaker is optimized for low-voltage distribution up to 600 V class — typical for North American 480/277 V or European 400/230 V networks where the available fault current can hit 100 kA+ at the main. At 690 V (common in mining or marine), the 3.7 kA rating means it belongs downstream of a higher-rated feeder breaker, not at the service entrance.
Panel fit and integration
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard footprint for a 3-pole 100 A frame in the SENTRON 3VA platform. It mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. The auxiliary switch configuration comes with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HP type), which gives you both position indication and a separate alarm contact for remote fault annunciation. Power loss is rated at a maximum of 10 W, so heat dissipation inside a sealed enclosure is manageable — no forced cooling required for a single unit, though a group of breakers in a tight panel should be spaced per Siemens' derating guidelines.
