What this 3VA2 carries
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5JP32-0JH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection. It's built around the ETU550 electronic trip unit, which gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves — not just a thermal-magnetic fixed curve. Rated continuous current Iu is 100 A, and it holds that rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C without derating; at 55 °C you're still at 96.25 A, and at 70 °C it's 85 A. That's useful when the breaker sits in a warm panel next to other heat sources. Interrupting capacity is the headline number for selectivity studies: 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 4.25 kA at 690 V. That's a high SCCR for a 100 A frame — it lets you coordinate downstream without upgrading the main breaker in most industrial panels. The insulation voltage rating is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 480 V and 600 V class systems. Power loss is 10 W maximum — modest for a 100 A electronic-trip MCCB, which keeps the enclosure thermal rise manageable.
Integration and wiring
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame size. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a panel backplate with screws. The auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ type), which gives you three separate signal paths for remote status: breaker open/closed, and a dedicated alarm on trip. That's enough for a PLC digital input per signal without sharing contacts. The breaker ships with the basic switch 3VA2110-5JP32-0AA0 and an integrated auxiliary trip 3VA9688-0BL32. The shunt trip (STL) is included on this variant — no separate undervoltage release fitted. Communication function is present, so you can integrate it into a SENTRON power monitoring system via the optional communication module.
