Motor protection MCCB with ETU350M release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5MN32-0CH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the motor protection version, carrying a rated continuous current Iu of 100 A. It is designed for motor branch-circuit protection, with the ETU350M electronic trip unit providing adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves tailored to motor starting characteristics. Breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that cover most industrial distribution and motor control center fault levels. The 100 A rating holds across ambient temperatures up to 50 °C, then derates to 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. Phase failure detection is built in, and the breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) for coordinated shutdown on loss of control voltage. The auxiliary contact configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ version), providing status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel.
Panel integration and dimensions
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount adapter. The 86 mm depth leaves clearance for wiring and auxiliary modules behind the panel door. Maximum power loss is 75 W, which should be factored into enclosure thermal calculations, especially in a multi-breaker lineup. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
