Motor protection MCCB with ETU350M — 100 A continuous, 187 kA at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5MN36-0CH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for motor protection duty, carrying a continuous current Iu of 100 A across the 40 °C to 50 °C band — no derating needed in a typical 40 °C panel ambient. Above that, the thermal curve steps down: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C (–). The ETU350M electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection with phase-failure detection. Breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at both 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V (–). That 187 kA at 240 V gives substantial fault-current headroom for low-voltage distribution panels where the available short-circuit current can exceed 100 kA near the transformer secondary.
Integration — panel fit, auxiliary contacts, undervoltage release
Dimensions are 86 mm deep, 105 mm wide, and 181 mm tall (–). The 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole 100 A frame in the 3VA platform, so it occupies the same panel footprint as other 3VA 100 A units. The auxiliary contact block is factory-configured with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch HQ. An undervoltage release (UVR) is integrated — this is the design-of-the-auxiliary-release variant, so the UVR is part of the base unit, not a field-add-on kit. Maximum power loss is 75 W, which should be factored into enclosure thermal calculations.
Environmental range and approvals
Operating temperature spans -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The trip indicator is present. This is a motor protection version — the ETU350M release is designed for motor branch-circuit protection, not just feeder protection. No communication function or ground-fault monitoring is included.
