Motor protection MCCB with ETU350M release
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5MN36-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for motor protection duty. It carries a rated continuous current Iu of 100 A, and the ETU350M electronic overcurrent release provides adjustable thermal-magnetic protection curves suited for motor starting inrush without nuisance tripping. Breaking capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415/440 V AC, so it can interrupt high fault currents in low-voltage distribution panels without upstream coordination issues. At 690 V the rating drops to 17 kA — still adequate for most industrial motor branch circuits. An integrated undervoltage release (UVR) is fitted as standard — if the control voltage drops, the breaker trips immediately, which is common for emergency-stop or safety isolation circuits. Phase failure detection is also built in, preventing single-phasing damage to motors.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker is rated for full 100 A up to 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 90 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot near the top of the enclosure, account for the 96 A at 55 °C and 94 A at 60 °C figures when sizing the branch. Dimensions are 181 mm high × 105 mm wide × 86 mm deep. It mounts on a DIN rail or can be screw-fixed to a backplate. Maximum power loss is 75 W at rated load. For dense panel layouts, ensure ventilation around the breaker to keep ambient below the 70 °C operating maximum.
