Thermal derating is modest: the breaker holds 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then drops to 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. In a hot panel near the top of a cabinet, you lose only 10 % of capacity at 70 °C — better than many MCCBs that derate harder above 50 °C.
Trip Unit and Auxiliary Functions
The ETU350M release is the electronic overcurrent trip; it supports adjustable settings for motor protection, including thermal memory that prevents immediate re-close after a hot overload trip. A shunt trip (STL) is integrated as the auxiliary release, allowing remote tripping from a PLC or emergency-stop circuit. Two auxiliary switches (HQ) are fitted for status feedback to the control system — one normally open, one normally closed, or both configurable depending on the wiring. The integrated auxiliary trip is 3VA9688-0BL32 — a spare part number if you need to replace just the shunt trip module.
That 105 mm width is standard for a 3-pole 100 A frame in the 3VA2 series — it fits the same mounting hole pattern and bus-bar spacing as other SENTRON 3VA2 breakers in this current class. No special adapter plate needed for a panel originally cut for a 100 A frame.
