What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-5MN36-0KB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated at 100 A continuously across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to 70 °C, which simplifies panel layout in warm enclosures. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — the 187 kA figure at 240 V means it can clear a high-fault bolted short circuit on the secondary of a large distribution transformer without the arc re-striking. This MCCB includes a built-in shunt trip release and two auxiliary switches, so it can be remotely tripped and its status signaled back to a PLC or safety relay — useful for emergency-stop circuits or load-shedding schemes. Phase failure detection is onboard; undervoltage release and ground-fault monitoring are not included in this variant, so if those functions are required, specify a different order code or add external modules.
Panel fit and mounting
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or screw-mount panel layouts without needing a custom backplate. Maximum power loss is 10 W. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C — the storage floor matters if the breaker sits in an unheated warehouse before installation.
