What this MCCB delivers for a 480 V panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-6HL32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) carrying a rated continuous current Iu of 100 A and a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. With a breaking capacity of 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V, it clears high-fault currents without cascading upstream — a key consideration for main or tie breakers in a low-voltage switchboard. The ETU320 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection, plus ground-fault alarm capability (though no integral ground-fault monitoring on this variant). The 86 mm depth and 105 mm width match the standard SENTRON 3VA mounting footprint, so it drops into existing 3VA panel cutouts without re-drilling.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 100 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 96.25 A, at 60 °C to 92.5 A, and at 70 °C to 85 A. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the breaker for the derated number — not the nameplate 100 A. The maximum power loss of 10 W is modest for a 100 A frame; no special ventilation is needed inside a standard enclosure.
Mounting and integration
Dimensions of 86 mm depth × 105 mm width × 181 mm height place it in the standard SENTRON 3VA frame. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the breaker's own mounting feet. The ETU320 release is powered by the line-side current transformers — no external control power needed for the trip unit. The shunt trip (STL) requires a separate 24 VDC or 110–240 VAC signal, depending on the coil variant ordered; verify coil voltage against your control circuit.
