What this breaker is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2110-6HL46-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 100 A across the full ambient temperature range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling, which simplifies panel design in warm enclosures. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the interrupting capacity reaches 242 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA figure at 240 V means it can safely clear a high-fault bolted short on a low-voltage service entrance — a spec that matters when the transformer is right outside the panel. The overcurrent release is an ETU320 electronic trip unit, which provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection. No ground-fault monitoring or communication function is built in — this is a straightforward line-protection breaker, not a power-monitoring device.
Panel fit and mounting
Four-pole design, 140 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — dimensions that match the SENTRON 3VA2 frame footprint. The IP40 front protection means it is suited for indoor panel mounting where dust ingress is limited; no washdown rating, so keep it behind a sealed enclosure door in wet environments. Maximum power loss is 10 W, which is modest for a 100 A frame — useful when calculating enclosure thermal rise.
