MCCB for high-fault panels — 100 A, 242 kA at 240 V
The Siemens 3VA2110-6HN32-0AC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 242 kA breaking capacity at 240 V — that SCCR covers most industrial service-entrance and distribution panels without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream. Three-pole construction, line protection version, fitted with an ETU350 electronic trip unit. The ETU350 provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection curves — useful for coordinating with downstream breakers in a selective-coordination study. Breaking capacity drops to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then to 121 kA at 500 V, and 5 kA at 690 V — the 690 V figure is the limit for this frame; if your panel runs 690 V with higher fault potential, step up to the next frame size.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; derates linearly to 85 A at 70 °C. If the panel internal ambient runs above 50 °C, the 96.25 A at 55 °C and 92.5 A at 60 °C figures matter for the BOM — size the main bus for the derated value, not the nameplate. Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — fits standard MCCB mounting footprints. IP40 on the front face; suitable for enclosed panel mounting, not for washdown environments. Maximum power loss of 10 W — negligible for panel thermal calculations but worth noting if the breaker is in a sealed enclosure with other heat sources.
Auxiliary contacts and release options
Comes with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) factory-fitted. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — this is a bare line-protection breaker with aux contacts for status feedback to a PLC or indication lamp. Operating temperature range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. Latching endurance rated at 20,000 operations — mechanical life, not electrical; for frequent switching duty, consider a contactor instead.
