What this MCCB delivers on the line side
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-6HN32-0HC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. Breaking capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V, which puts it squarely in the high-fault category for industrial main feeders or large distribution panels. The design is line protection, meaning it's optimized for upstream fault clearing rather than motor or generator protection. A shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release is built in, along with two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback.
Sizing and selectivity for the panel builder
At 100 A flat-rated through 70 °C, this breaker eliminates the guesswork on panel internal temperature rise — you don't have to knock down the trip setting for a warm enclosure. The 242 kA interrupting rating at 240 V gives full-rated SCCR headroom for most industrial service-entrance applications. The 3VA series uses a common frame size across the 100 A to 1600 A range, so the mounting footprint and bus connections are consistent within the family. That makes coordination studies simpler when you're cascading downstream breakers.
Panel fit and wiring
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most distribution panelboards. The supplied basic switch is 3VA21106HN320AA0. Two HQ auxiliary switches and a shunt trip release come pre-installed, so you don't need to order them separately for basic status and remote trip. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Power loss is rated at 10 W maximum.
