MCCB for motor protection — 100 A, ETU350M, high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-7MN32-0DL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for a continuous current Iu of 100 A, designed specifically for motor protection duty. It carries an interrupting capacity of 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V — figures that give it strong selectivity headroom in high-fault distribution panels. The electronic trip unit is an ETU350M, which provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves plus phase failure detection, making it a fit for motor branch circuits where coordination with upstream breakers matters.
Current derating and thermal limits
The breaker holds its full 100 A rating up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, it derates linearly: 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. The maximum operating temperature is 70 °C, with storage range from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 75 W. For a panel builder, this means the breaker can be mounted in a warm enclosure without oversizing, as long as the ambient stays under 50 °C — above that, the load current must be reduced accordingly.
Auxiliary contacts and undervoltage release
This variant ships with a factory-integrated auxiliary contact block: 2 auxiliary switches (NO/NC), 1 trip alarm switch, and 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ type). It also includes an undervoltage release (UVR) — the release is the 3VA9608-0BB25. The UVR ensures the breaker trips if control voltage drops below a threshold, which is standard for safety circuits that need to drop a motor on loss of control power. The base switch itself is order code 3VA2110-7MN32-0AA0.
