Integrator's note — 3VA2110-7MS36-0DA0
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2110-7MS36-0DA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 330 kA at 240 V and 242 kA at 415 V. This is the starter protection variant, fitted with an ETU310M electronic overcurrent release and an integrated undervoltage release (UVR). The 330 kA rating at 240 V means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream cascading — critical for high-fault panels near large transformers or generator feeds. No auxiliary contacts, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication function are included on this order code; those would need to be added externally if required.
Breaking capacity and coordination
The 330 kA at 240 V and 242 kA at 415 V place this breaker in the high-interrupting category for a 100 A frame. For selectivity studies, the ETU310M release provides adjustable overload and short-circuit pickup, allowing coordination with downstream breakers in a distribution panel. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) supports 690 V line-to-line systems, where the breaking capacity drops to 52.5 kA — still adequate for most industrial 690 V bus feeds.
Thermal derating and panel integration
The breaker carries 100 A continuously up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. Maximum power loss is 75 W. In a sealed enclosure with limited airflow, that 75 W dissipation must be factored into the thermal budget. Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, and 86 mm deep — standard for the SENTRON 3VA2 frame, fitting most DIN-rail or panel-mount layouts without special adapters.
