What this MCCB delivers — and what it doesn't
The Siemens 3VA2116-5HL42-0KF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker sized for line protection in 4-pole, 160 A continuous duty. The continuous current holds flat at 160 A from 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that span, which simplifies panel sizing in warm enclosures. Breaking capacity is the headline: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, dropping to 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V means it can interrupt a fault of that magnitude without upstream cascading — critical for high-available-fault-current distribution panels. It ships with a shunt trip (STL) and one auxiliary switch plus one trip alarm switch (HQ). No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function — this is a pure line-protection breaker, not a multifunction device.
Panel fit and environmental limits
Dimensions are 86 mm deep, 140 mm wide, 181 mm high — fits standard MCCB panel cutouts for the 3VA2 frame. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Power loss at rated load is 25.5 W maximum — account for that in enclosure thermal calculations. The basic switch supplied is order code 3VA21165HL420AA0.
