What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-5HL46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling. It carries an ETU320 electronic trip unit, which means the protection curve is adjustable for selective coordination downstream. The breaker is designed for line protection (cable and busbar feeders) in distribution panels.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean
The interrupting ratings climb to 187 kA at 240 V AC, drop to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then to 75.6 kA at 500 V, and settle at 3.7 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V is the headline — it means this breaker can safely clear a bolted fault on a low-voltage transformer secondary without upstream fuses needing to open. At 690 V the 3.7 kA rating is still adequate for most motor-circuit faults, but if your system has a high available fault current above that voltage, you need a current-limiting upstream device.
Panel fit and mounting
The breaker measures 86 mm deep by 140 mm wide by 181 mm high — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint. The front face carries an IP40 rating. No undervoltage release or shunt trip is built in.
