What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2116-5HN32-0CC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 160 A continuous current in a 3-pole configuration, designed for line protection in distribution panels and industrial switchgear. Its breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3.7 kA at 690 V — so at typical 400 V class industrial supplies it clears 121 kA fault current without cascading upstream. The breaker ships with an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) and two auxiliary switches HQ, meaning it drops the load on loss of control voltage and reports status back to the PLC or annunciator panel.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, and 86 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that drops into existing MCCB mounting bases and busbar systems without panel rework. Rated for continuous 160 A across the full ambient range from -25 °C to 70 °C, with no derating needed up to 70 °C — useful for sealed enclosures or high-temp machine compartments. Maximum power dissipation is 28 W at rated load, so factor that into enclosure thermal calculations if grouping several breakers in a confined panel.
