What the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-5HN36-0BA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with an ETU350 electronic trip unit for line protection. The interrupting ratings are the headline: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 79 kA at 500 V, and 4.25 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V means it can safely clear a fault up to that level without welding contacts or cascading upstream — critical for high-fault-capacity panels near transformers or large motor banks. The 160 A rating holds flat to 50 °C; above that it derates to 154 A at 55 °C, 148 A at 60 °C, 142 A at 65 °C, and 136 A at 70 °C (–). If your panel ambient runs hot, size the load side accordingly.
Integration and mounting
Dimensions: 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep. That 86 mm depth is the body only — allow clearance for the UVR coil and rear terminals. No auxiliary contact block is fitted; if you need signaling, add the separate auxiliary contact kit. The ETU350 is the overcurrent release — it's electronic, so it offers adjustable trip curves (long-time, short-time, instantaneous, ground fault) via the front dials. No communication function or phase failure detection on this variant. Power loss is 28 W max — factor that into enclosure thermal rise.
