What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-5HN36-0JA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, with a continuous current Iu of 160 A and a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. It carries a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release — no undervoltage release, no auxiliary contacts, no communication module. The overcurrent release is an ETU350 electronic trip unit, adjustable for coordination studies. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 79 kA at 500 V; at 690 V it drops to 4.25 kA, so watch your system voltage when sizing for fault current.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds 160 A straight through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates to 154 A at 55 °C, 148 A at 60 °C, 142 A at 65 °C, and 136 A at 70 °C. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. Physical footprint: 105 mm wide, 181 mm tall, 86 mm deep — fits standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts. Maximum power loss is 25.5 W, which matters for enclosure heat rise if you're packing multiple breakers in a row.
