160 A MCCB with flat thermal derating and high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2116-5JQ32-0AG0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) on a 160 A frame, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V, dropping to 75.6 kA at 500 V and 3.7 kA at 690 V — the high 240 V figure suits it for low-voltage main or feeder duty where fault current is severe. Thermal rating holds at 160 A continuously from 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that span, which simplifies panel sizing in warm enclosures. Maximum power loss is 25.5 W, manageable in a standard DIN-rail layout. Dimensions are 105 mm wide, 181 mm high, 86 mm deep — the width is the critical fit dimension for multi-pole grouping on the DIN rail. The auxiliary switch complement is one auxiliary + one trip alarm switch (HP type), giving separate NO/NC status and a fault-indication circuit without an add-on module.
Panel fit and integration
Mounts on standard DIN rail. The 105 mm width means three of these occupy 315 mm of rail — plan your enclosure fill accordingly. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C, storage -40 °C to 80 °C, so it handles unheated electrical rooms and outdoor enclosures within those limits.
